Staycation: Hotel Jen @ Tanglin

There’s something different about #thejenfeeling. It is hipster, forward yet homely at the same time. Every turn and corner contains a surprise. Because photos will speak for themselves, here they are.
Lobby lounge and a cafe at the back.
Instagram-worthy stationary swings!

Cosy corner of the room with quotes of the day!
Even a study table could look so chic.
The bathroom was fuss-free and clean. You really don’t need all the frills to make you feel at home.

For dinner, we brought food back from Isetan Scotts! Just a stone’s throw away from Hotel Jen, you can get authentic Japanese take-outs, though I won’t exactly say that they are cheap.

Now the verdict. As you can see, breakfast at Hotel Jen is a conglomeration of Singaporeans’ favourite food. Ranging from Penang Laksa to Hainanese chicken rice – each dish is carefully prepared with a Singaporean touch. I love how most local favourites were available and really, there isn’t a need to venture out of Hotel Jen (if I were a tourist). That said, each dish has been toned down in terms of spiciness etc., so that it appeals to everyone. To the locals, this does not mean that the chefs have comprised on the quality of the food. On the contrary, they have paid close attention to each dish in order to bring out the very best that Singapore has to offer. *peace sign*

Chilling by the pool after breakfast!

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Jen – a hotel branded for our generation, right at the heart of town. 🙂
